Ribbons and Hexies

I finished the ribbon scarf! I bought the yarn last week at the Knitting and Crochet Show. It was easy once I got the hang of it. The yarn is made up of a ribbon attached to yarn that is divided into boxes. You have to knit into the next box. You just have to make sure you're inserting the needle into the proper box. Once that's conquered, it's mindless. It was fun to be able to watch the Olympic trials and make my scarf!
My cat, Ricky, loved playing with the shiny scarf! I decided to let him wear it for a bit! He didn't really enjoy it but I thought he looked lovely!

I'm also making some progress on my hexagon project. These are one inch hexagons. I love having handwork that I can just pick up and work on whenever I feel like it. I'm just using scraps and leftover fabric from various projects. These hexagons may take me years before I actually finish a quilt top but I'm fine with that. I'm enjoying it too much to rush through it. I have to remind myself to enjoy the process!

Hope everyone has a wonderful Fourth of July!

  3. Very cool scarf! Ricky looks cute wearing it. I know the kind of yarn you are talking about and wondered how it was to knit with it.
For being a collection of scraps, your hexagons really go well together!
    Happy Fourth!

  4. Knitting with that yarn is actually slow to start with but then you catch on. The yarn makes for a different type of scarf. Thanks for the nice words about the hexies and Ricky. I'll let him know!!

  5. Aww, Ricky looks so cute! And I'm starting to see hexagon quilt projects everywhere. It seems to be the thing to do now. :) I do have a lot of scraps, maybe I'll start one. I'm very good at 'starting' projects. :) Have a great 4th!

    1. Sharon, sometimes I work more on hand projects. If I'm able to pick up and work on them whenever I have time, I end up doing more work on them than expected. Try it, you'll love it!

  9. Love the scarf and the hexie quilt.
I began sewing my hexies into a quilt this past week.
I too am so enjoying working on it plus it's a great way to use up some of my scrap fabrics.
Hope you had a great Fourth of July.
