Tone it Down Quilt Along Block #1

I just had to share my first block of the Tone it Down Quilt Along sponsored by American Patchwork and Quilting.  I have decided that I should try and work from my stash this year. It seems as though my stash is multiplying even when I'm not shopping. This quilt will force me to look through my stash and actually use up some of those scraps.

I really love how it came out. It's lots of pieces to cut but sewing it together was easier than I expected. Everything seemed to line up. The directions are so well written. I'm hoping to use up some of those small pieces I've been saving. This may turn out to be a free quilt! (Just a quilt I used stash for. I did pay for that fabric at some point but we'll forget that for now!)

Hoping to start cutting for the next block! What are you doing this weekend??

  2. Great job on the quilt block. I am hoping to do the same with the quilt that I am working on...just use what I have.
It's birthday weekend here. Family coming in, cleaning and 4-H.
Gonna be crazy but I hope that I can get a little sewing time in somewhere.
    Have a great weekend!

    1. I'll have to take a look to see what you're working on. Wouldn't it be great to use up some of our stash!? Hope you find time to sew. I always feel better when I do! Enjoy your busy weekend!

  3. It came out nice! I like the variety in the background fabrics. Will you be sticking with a red/blue color scheme?

    1. The background is always scrappy but the red and blue can be other darker, more contrasting, colors. They have directions and guidelines to follow. Are you still machine quilting??

  5. Nice job Rosemary. Your low volume is much lower than mine :-)

  6. It may be lower volume at the beginning. Not sure what will happen as I start to run out of neutral backgrounds! Thanks for visiting my blog!
