Blogger's BOM, so far

I've finally managed to get a little sewing done. I've been trying so hard to get my blocks all put together! I'm not used to sewing blocks on point and wanted to see the end result. Too bad it's holiday time and I have a million things to do! Anyways, I did find some time and got the blocks put together. The only thing I have left to do is the piano border. That border will definitely take some time. I'm not sure how much fabric I have left from the blocks so I'll probably be incorporating some of the solids I used. It measures 48 1/2 inches square.

I really like the look of this quilt. I'm not used to using a print for the sashing. I don't use much orange. But I think I like it! I'm a little bit out of my comfort zone but I'm happy with the end result!

The piano border is made up of 96 rectangles. Definitely a bit time consuming! I'll get it done at some point!

How's everyone doing with their holiday shopping? I'm almost done although my husband won't really tell me what he wants. I'll have to go to the golf store and take a look around. I love the holidays but love when they're over too!

Hope everyone finds some fun time for themselves to sew!

    1. Thanks, Marelize! I have a feeling that border will take awhile but it should be worth it! I'll post pics when I'm done!

  2. Lovely setting Rosemary; I like that patterened sashing and the blue background, too. I have never done a setting on point--you did a fabulous job!
We, here in CT, are completely in a state of disbelief and grief over that horrendous massacre...don't feel much like Christmas; but, as my 93-yr old Mom says--we have to keep on going. I am trying to get myself to wrap presents today...I hope you and yours stay safe, healthy and happy this season....sadly, Julierose

    1. I am heartbroken over what happened! Why would anyone kill little kids? I will never understand. I lit a candle for the victims last night and will again tonight. This sure takes the Christmas feeling away. I guess we have to do the best we can.
I'm glad you like the quilt so far. I hope we can all enjoy the holidays as best as we can. It's just so sad. I'm trying to finish up my shopping. Keep strong.

  3. Wow, that looks so good! The patterned sashing is something I have never done either, but it really suits these blocks.

For the piano key border, have you thought about making long strips and then cutting them to size? You can add a few odd strips here and there to keep it from looking too repetitive, or turn some of the strips upsidedown to change up the repeat.

    1. I never thought of that! I'm going to try some of your suggestions. Anything to make this quicker! Thanks for the nice comment too!

    1. It took me such a long time to get this done. Not sure why. I'm not used to sewing blocks on point. Maybe that slowed me down? I'm glad it's done and am happy with the result. Piano border next!!
