Happy Halloween!

Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Halloween! I bought this panel at the beginning of the month. I just quilted a large meander on it. Nice and quick so I could hang it up for the holiday. We're expecting trick or treaters here for 5-7pm. Having dinner early and getting the candy ready!

Happy Halloween!!!

More FMQ Arcadia Avenue

I worked on the center of this block for 1 hour. It seemed like a long time for such a small area. There's a lot of fabric in that center so I had to quilt very slowly. All of the grey areas have been quilted in the ditch on both top and bottom seams.

The white diamond and black diamond were both quilted in the ditch. You can see my free motion loops in the white diamond. I'm going to quilt in the black diamond but I have to change my thread to black. I can't believe it, but this block is almost done! I'm going to finish 4 blocks and then tackle some of the black set in triangles. It's slow and steady but I'm getting there!!

More Green Tea and Sweet Beans

Here's my Igloo block that I made for Green Tea and Sweet Beans quilt by Jen Kingwell. I love to applique. It's very relaxing for me. I use the freezer paper method. There are many methods out there but this one works for me. I should have read the directions better.  I have to make 2 of these blocks but I only made one! That's okay, I'm starting the second block already!

Here are my blocks so far. I'm getting there! I have 5 more types of blocks left. I have to make more than one for most of those remaining blocks. However, once the blocks are done, I'll be starting the border. The border consists of a vine with appliqued flowers all the way around! Yup, nowhere being done with this one!

Can You See It??

Can you see what I did?? In the bottom picture, you can see my loopy design in the black and white chevrons. I ripped it out and just stitched 1/4 inch away from the seam line. I like it so much better!
I like the loops but I don't think that was the right place for that design. I tried to ignore it but my eye just kept going back to it. I decided to just rip it out and do it over. It took over an hour to rip out but about 15 minutes to quilt. Definitely worth it!

I also quilted these radiating lines in the black and gray triangles. I really love the look of straight lines with this quilt. I like have some curved designs but the straight lines seem to reinforce the strong lines of the actual  pieced pattern.

I just sewed the binding on this today. I machine quilted it with a simple big meander. I can't wait to hang this up for Halloween!

Have a nice weekend!!

Holiday Projects

I just finished these adult socks. I had knit child socks for a friend's daughter and decided to make a pair for my friend. They'll have matching mother-daughter socks. I think this will make a nice Christmas gift for them. I still have to wash and block them but they're done as far as I'm concerned!

I also started quilting this today. I thought it was so cute! It was on sale at my local quilt shop. I think it will be a cute decoration for my house. I'm about halfway done quilting it. I'm just quilting an all over stipple/meander. So fun!

I've been quilting Arcadia Avenue but decided to rip out one area. I just didn't like it. Of course, my eye kept focusing on the quilting I didn't like. After much thought, I decided to rip it out and quilt something else. I'm ready to start quilting the third block but I had to fix this first. I hate having Quilt OCD!!

Scrap Quilt Project Continues

I made more blocks for my scrap project. I really love how it's coming out. I'm also happy to be using up my stash. (Which never seems to decrease!)

I only have 2 more solids to go. That means 22 more blocks and this quilt top can be sewn together! I'm not used to using my own patterns but I like it! It's liberating to just pick up your fabric and cut and sew whatever you've decided. This is only the second quilt pattern I've come up with on my own. I'd love to design more patterns but we'll have to see how often I get inspired!

Block #2 Arcadia Avenue

I'm almost done quilting the second block of Arcadia Avenue. I'm doing lots of stitching in the ditch which you can't see! However, I did do a little free motion quilting as well.

I made these swirls in the center.  I also outlined  inside the solid shapes next to the center.

I made these loops in the black/white areas. This was not my first choice. I tried a few other shapes but nothing seemed to work. Out of desperation, I tried this design and decided to keep it!

I  have the outer triangles left and this block will be complete! I still have to decide what to do! Starting to look through my books for designs.

Scrap Quilt Project

I had some free time today and got another 10 blocks done. As you can see, I have completed 30 blocks. It will be made up of 64 blocks, 8 rows of 8 blocks each. I'm almost halfway there!

Here are my squares all cut out. It takes longer to cut out the squares when comparing to sewing time. These blocks are fast! It's a nice little stash buster!

I was asked about the pattern. I'll be writing the pattern if anyone is interested. Just private message me and I'll send you the pattern when I'm done! Nice and easy!
