I finished my socks this afternoon! I never feel guilty watching General Hospital if I keep my hands busy. The pattern consisted of 2 different patterns running at the same time. I had cables on either side that had their own pattern while knitting the lace pattern. It wasn't really that hard once you got used to it. I just had to write down what row I was on for each of the patterns. These socks still have to be washed and blocked.
I've started to put together the Downton Abbey quilt. I love the on point setting but I had forgotten that it takes a little more work! The above 2 pictures are just the first 2 rows sewn together. I added the triangles to square off the rows. I really like it!
The last 2 pictures show the third row added on. The colors aren't very rich in this photo. In person, the quilt looks very soft and feminine. It's a pleasure to work on.
Also, tonight is the first Friday Night Sew In for 2015. I think I'll work on my hand applique project. I've been neglecting the poor thing. Hope you can join in!
Have a great weekend but watch out for the snowstorm!
Love your pretty, lacy socks! I'll have to learn to knit socks someday.
ReplyDeleteJust got back from the grocery with a rotisserie chicken. Easy, quick supper and all night to sew!
I had leftover chicken for dinner! I'll applique while watching TV. Can't stay up too long. Have to work and sounds like I'll have to drive through the snow!
Deletethose socks came out lovely! Fancy pattern there! I love the Downton Abbey pattern--I think the fabrics really blend so well together, Rosemary--are you watching? I think that a couple of the characters sound even more elite this year??? But I love this series. Saty safe in the storm tomorrow--maybe you could wear your new socks to stay cozy ;---))) Hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteThanks, Julierose! I do think that some of the characters on Downton are changing. Very interesting to watch! I'm working all day tomorrow! Hope I make it through the snow! Stay indoors and stay warm!!
DeleteGorgeous socks and I love the patchwork you are working on too
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I loved working on both projects!
DeleteLove your new socks! The quilt is going to be a beauty!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Astrid! Both projects are great fun!
DeleteGreat socks. Something that I would never attempt. Such pretty soft colours in your Downton Abbey quilt. That will make a lovely quilt.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Karen! Knitting socks isn't as hard as it looks.
DeleteI just get sick of making the second sock! I wasn't sure I liked the Downton Abbey fabric line but it looks so pretty as I sew it together.
So glad you visited my blog!
The Downtown Abbey looks lovely. On point quilts are more work but the on-point really adds to the overall design.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Janet! I agree with you! On point isn't as easy but definitely worth it!
