FMQ Loops

I'm just posting a few pictures of my latest project. I'm free motion quilting loops. This is a bit of a departure for me since I tend to meander as my background filler. I have to keep reminding myself that it's okay to cross threads! It feels as though I'm disobeying the rules! It's a nice departure and I like the way it's progressing.

I'm using a variegated pink from Aurifil which is 50 weight 100% cotton. It quilts so nicely and my machine seems to like it! I can never go wrong using Aurifil.

I'm linking up over at Leah Day's blog which you can find here. There are some great examples of free motion quilting there. Very inspiring! Go take a look!

  1. Oh I really like your loops! Is that color sort of pink? It really pops nicely with the fabric. Hugs, Julierose

    1. Thanks, Julierose! The thread is pink but variegated so it's almost white in some areas. Adds a little extra interest!!

  2. That's the one freemotion quilt pattern that I think I might be able to manage. I just bought my first aurifil thread today.

    1. Aurifil is the best! It seems all sewing machines love it too! The loops are actually quite easy. I was surprised. I think meandering/stippling is harder.
