I Like Thursday #270

It's time for Thursday likes! Please visit LeeAnna over at Not Afraid of Color to link up with more bloggers taking part in I Like Thursday. I went to a quilt show last week and got this cute little wall hanging for my sewing room. I thought it was so cute and would add to my sewing room decor very nicely!

I've been working on this cross stitch cat for some time now. My daughter wanted me to make it for her boyfriend's upcoming birthday. When I first saw it, I thought it would make a great gift and I could always make one for myself later. Well, the directions say it takes 40 hours to make. How I wish that was correct!!! I think I've worked on it a lot longer than that and I'm not even halfway through. It will eventually be a pillow. It's from The World of Cross Stitching magazine. I think it finishes at about 7" X 12". I bought all the correct DMC floss since there's so much shading. There is a huge amount of thread changes but I do love it! I'm not sure I have it in me to make another one.

I went to Barnes & Noble the other day and bought this great sock book. I have the first volume and wasn't aware there was another book out there. These are the best patterns for socks. They even have a few ankle sock patterns that I think would be quick and great to wear around the house.

The prompt this week asks us if we got Easter baskets as children. We didn't get Easter baskets and I always wanted one! Instead, my grandparents would always give us chocolate bunnies. Not a bad replacement for a basket! My grandmother always made Easter breads with colored eggs in them for us kids. The only problem was that the bread was so hard, it was too tough to eat! I think I ended up dunking it in coffee or tea. The things we remember from childhood!!! I guess she tried!!

Have a Happy Easter!!!🐣🐰🐇

  1. The first thing I thought when I saw the cross-stitch kitty was "that is a lot of thread changes." I don't think I've ever seen a pattern indicate how long it takes to stitch a project. (maybe I haven't been paying close attention!) Not sure how you can determine that because we all stitch differently. It will be a pretty piece when it is finished. I've never knitted socks. Will be interesting to watch your progress.

    1. I'm glad you noticed that too! It has a ton of thread changes but I'm somehow getting used to it now. I don't know how they can calculate how long to finish a project. I'm sort of slow and take my time. I'll be happy when it's done. I love knitting socks. They don't take too long and make great gifts!!

    1. Thanks, Angela! I feel I'm a slow cross stitcher but there are a ton of thread changes also. I'll get it done eventually!!
