I finished the Half Square Triangle quilt top. The pattern was originally written for 12 blocks. I like square quilts so I decided to make it 16 blocks. I made 4 star blocks, one for each corner. I found a block made up of half square triangles that looked similar to the other blocks in the quilt. I had enough blocks to make the quilt square, 4 X 4 blocks.
I chose a very pale blue for the inner border. There are so many colors in that quilt that I thought a soft color would work best. I also decided a darker blue would look good as the outer border. But I wanted the blue to look like a solid from a distance. The outer border sort of looks like little dots and definitely looks like a solid from a far. This top is all set to quilt! I may just use a pantograph to finish it quickly.
Very pretty..like the blue a lot hugs, julierose
ReplyDeleteThank you, Julierose! This was a fun project. I'll be quilting it soon.
DeleteSo fun to see all the different HST blocks. And I like the colorful setting squares in the sashing, too!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Barb! I never realized how versatile HST blocks are. I really liked making these blocks.
DeleteLove how it came out. Using different fabrics in the corner blocks give them each a different look even though they are the same. I think the blue border fabrics really brings it all together.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Em! I think it worked out pretty nicely. I'm happy with it!
DeleteIt came out very pretty. Blue is my fav color in quilts
ReplyDeleteThank you, Dawn! I think blue works the best since there are so many colors in this quilt.
