I Like Thursday #18

I'm starting this week's likes with my Binding Buddy! I just made some binding and finally got to use this. I think she looks very cute holding all my binding so nice and neat. I usually just roll it up but it's easy to unravel. My Binding Buddy keeps my binding in perfect order until I'm ready to use it!

This is a wool pressing mat made of New Zealand wool. It measures around 17" X 14". I love it! My seams lie nice and flat. Both sides get steamed at the same time. I also own a small 7" square mat for smaller pieces. I found this one on Amazon but bought my smaller one from a local quilt shop.

I'm not very good with plants. I've had this African Violet for about 3 years. It's a wonder it's still alive! With Fall on the way, I really appreciate seeing a blossoming flower. This plants sits on my kitchen windowsill. My husband bought it for one of our wedding anniversaries.

One of my favorite stores is Sephora. That's where I found this great body lotion. I love the smell of it! It smells so clean and fresh. Imagine how disappointed I was when I found out Sephora doesn't carry this anymore. I had to mail order it. One of these 16oz bottles lasts me close to 6 months. I did hear Kohl's also carries it so I may try them next time. I use this everyday and would be so upset if I couldn't find it anymore.

That's my likes for the week! To read about more happy and positive posts, please visit LeeAnna at Not Afraid of Color! Have a great week!

  1. Your mention of the wool pressing mat is timely! I have thought about buying one but maybe you could answer a query for me. Do you use only a dry iron or could it also be used with steam?
Gosh, a long time since had African Violet plants in my house, they're favourites because of all the wonderful colours available.

    1. Maureen, I use steam all the time and it's fine. You just have to let the mat dry out. I lay it on it's side so the air can get to it. I love it! I got the best price on Amazon but look around. You may find a better deal depending on where you live.

  2. i am also thinking about that wool pressing mat...especially now that i want to do some wool embroidery...I used to have a lot of African Violets, but one by one they faded away for some reason...Yours looks good though...I've never seen a binding buddy--so cute and functional hugs, Julierose

  3. Love that binding buddy! I've not heard of a wool pressing mat before. My mother kept African Violets when I was a kid.

  4. Lovely likes, Rosemary. I keep reading about these pressing mats...sounds like I need one! I too love Sephora and bought several items recently that I intend to share in a post. My skin is sensitive so I have to be careful about lotions but have to use some every day because my skin is also dry. Always looking for good ones. I love African Violets.

    1. I think you'd like the pressing mat. It's so convenient to have near your sewing area. I have problems with some lotions. I can't use any Aveeno products. I always get a rash! Not sure why!!

  6. Hi Rosemary! Your binding buddy looks so cute with her coordinating fabric body. I don't have a wool pressing mat but I sure have heard good things about them. And I LOVE African Violets. I used to have several and got my sister hooked on them so she took them over. When she passed I'm not sure what happened to them, but I should pick up another one just in her memory. I can see that one is very happy in the defused light it is receiving or it wouldn't bloom. They can be very picky! ~smile~ Roseanne
