I started this Redwork table topper last week. It was much quicker than I expected! It was such a great project to work on while watching TV. I'm not sure I embroidered everything correctly but I did my best! There are a few French knots as well as the stem stitch and backstitch. My next step is to trim the topper and sew the backing.
This is the kit I bought. When I saw the hats are from the Downton Abbey era, I knew I had the perfect background! I just had to find it!
And here it is! I washed and ironed it. I'm so glad I kept this fat quarter. It's the perfect size for the topper and perfect for this piece!
Awe that is a very sweet piece.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Colette! So fun!
DeleteDefinitely a perfect match for the redwork--it looks really great!! Nice work I love redwork pieces. hugs, /Julierose
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm glad I gave it a try. It was fun to make!
DeleteYour embroidery looks very nice and the background fabric is perfect for it.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm glad I kept that fat quarter. I wasn't sure I'd use it. I guess it's not too bad to horde, I mean hold on to fabric!!
DeletePerfect fabric for a pretty project. Love it
ReplyDeleteYes a perfect subject for Redwork and also a wonderful project for in front of the tv. The cross stitching with the counting involved not so much. Love Downton Abbey.
ReplyDeleteSo nice to not have to keep reading directions while stitching! Very enjoyable!
DeleteHi Rosemary! Nice job and what a fun kit. I'd say you definitely have the perfect backing for the topper. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteThanks, Roseanne! I wasn't sure if I'd ever use that Downton Abbey fat quarter. So glad I found it in my stash!
