I went to the Downton Abbey exhibit in Boston this week. I loved the PBS series and didn't want to miss the traveling exhibit. What a treat this was!
Of course, the clothes were beautiful and this exhibit had plenty of clothes to look at! This is the first image to see before even entering the exhibit.
Here's the kitchen. Those outfits were actually worn by the actresses that played Mrs. Patmore and Daisy. The actual dimensions were used to build this room. I expected the kitchen to be larger.
This is the bell board found in the servants' quarters. I think those outfits were worn by Bates and Anna.
Carson and Mrs. Hughes' outfits when they were married.
Cousin Rose's coming out dress. So pretty!
This is the dining room. It was so big! While observing this room, there was a video where Carson explained all the etiquette that was expected while dining with the Grantham's.
Of course, we all remember Sybil's pants! How daring of her! You can see the photo where she wore them on the show to the right.
I have tons of more pictures but I didn't want to overdo it! If you get the chance, go to the exhibit. My husband wasn't too familiar with the show, but he enjoyed it as well.
I'm linking up with LeeAnna of Not Afraid of Color. Go take a look!
Hi Rosemary. I so want to see this exhibit. Love the pictures you took. I can't wait for the movie. From what I have read it is supposed to be based on a Royal visit to Downton Abbey.
ReplyDeleteYou have to go, Linda! It's so good! I have even more pictures but didn't want to overdo it on my post! The gift shop is great too! I heard the same thing about the movie. I can't wait to go!
DeleteOh what a treat--we just loved Downton Abbey...thanks for the pictures...hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed everything about this exhibit. There were 5 rooms to explore. So fun!

ReplyDeleteI had such a nice time visiting this exhibit. I felt lucky that it was so close to my home. I wish you could see it too!
DeleteWe loved Downton Abbey! That would be such a fun exhibit to see. I wonder if it is traveling around the country to other museums. Did you see that there is a Downton Abbey movie coming in the fall?
ReplyDeleteIt is going to other cities. I hope you get to see it. I did hear about the movie. I hear Downton Abbey will be visited by the queen! I'd love to see the movie!
DeleteI saw the exhibit in New York and I was so glad that I did. It was wonderful.
ReplyDeleteIt was so fun to see! I'm glad we both went!
DeleteHow cool! I didn't know this was in Boston. What a fun thing to attend.
ReplyDeleteIt was so fun! It's in Boston through sometime in September. Go if you get the chance!
DeleteOh I am so envious you got to see this! I adored Downton Abbey and have read the book about the real abbey as well. But thank you so much for sharing the photos...so nice to remember how much we loved these shows especially the clothes.
ReplyDeleteThe clothes were amazing to see in person! I wanted to touch them but, of course, that wasn't allowed! There were 5 rooms to explore. So enjoyable!
DeleteLooks like a fun time out. Downtown Abbey makes me smile. When I first started watching it Jeff complained. So I would watch it when he was not there. One day he watched it, and he was hooked. He used to call my sister Edith.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed this whole exhibit. I'm sure guys enjoy Downton Abbey just as much as we do! They just find it difficult to admit!
DeleteHi Rosemary! What a fabulous exhibition. I've never watched the show but have oodles of friends who do. I think there is fabric inspired by this show now - that would be a fun quilt to make. ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteRoseanne, I've made one of the Downton Abbey quilts using that fabulous fabric! It was so fun to visit this exhibit. It really felt like being there!
